Snap’s functionality can be divided into two categories: capture and edit. There are several screen capture functions that you can access: capture a window, capture a region, capture the desktop, single or multiple capture, video capture, and more. After you capture something, you can edit it: zoom, annotate, illustrate, draw, effects, and other editing features are put at your disposal. When you’re done with the capture and editing process, you can save your work locally, email it, or upload it to Ashampoo or Facebook.

Snap provides support for Windows 8, 7, Vista, as well as XP. If your computer runs these Windows editions at a reasonable speed, it won’t have any problems running Ashampoo’s Snap. And you won’t have any problems getting Snap up and running. It’s a simple matter of clicking through the instructions presented by a setup wizard.

When you launch Snap for the first time, you will be presented with three elements. Right in the middle of the screen you will see a Welcome to Ashampoo Snap help window that tells you how to control the application. In the upper right hand corner there’s a capture bar that lists multiple capture methods. And down in the right hand corner you will see the application’s system tray icon.

As previously mentioned, a help window will be shown when you launch Snap for the first time. It must be added that help windows will also be presented when you access the capture function, the editing function, the color picker, and so on.

Snap has a lot of capture functionality to offer: video capture, capture a scrolling window, capture an Internet Explorer/Chrome website, capture menu, timed capture, capture a single window, capture a free rectangle region, capture a freestyle region, capture a fixed region, color picker, single or multishot capture.

Once you have your capture, you can edit it. There are numerous editing functions that you can access: add text, add numbers, add lines, draw freely using a pencil, erase unwanted objects, highlight text using a marker, blur out sensitive info, rotate, flip, resize, crop, fade, and more.

When you’re done editing your capture, you can save it locally as an image file, export it as a PDF file, print it out, send it out via email, upload it to Facebook, or upload it to Ashampoo Webspace.

By default, Ashampoo Snap is free to use for a trial period of 10 days. On request, you can get an additional 30 days to evaluate the application’s functionality.

The extensive screen capture functionality and the useful editing functionality make Ashampoo Snap the ideal tool for creating tutorials or presentations.
